 Module Learning

Before delving into this critical thinking and communication module, my confidence in both written and verbal expression was somewhat lacking. I've consistently aspired to enhance my public speaking abilities, as the fear associated with it tends to impede my performance. While I acknowledge possessing adequate skills, the desire for continuous improvement has driven me to seek strategies to excel in these domains.

This module unexpectedly transformed my perspective on writing and communication. The provided resources, both online and in class, played a pivotal role in refining my skills. Specifically, formal report writing introduced me to researching platforms like Google Scholar, ChatGPT, and Library OneSearch. This exposure not only familiarized me with diverse sources but also taught me to seamlessly integrate citations into my writing. This newfound skill enhances the credibility and depth of my work, contributing to more persuasive and well-supported communication. 

Overall, this module has significantly broadened my research horizons and made my writing more robust and effective. The systematic exploration of critical thinking principles and the practical application of communication strategies have propelled my development in these areas. As a result, I am better equipped to navigate the complexities of effective expression and am eager to apply these enhanced skills in both academic and real-world scenarios.

Furthermore, this module has been instrumental in helping me overcome my initial shyness and introversion when it comes to group interactions. Typically reserved with new acquaintances, I've found that the consistent engagement with small tasks and group activities during the class has provided a structured platform for me to interact with different individuals regularly. As a result, I've observed a gradual increase in my comfort level when it comes to speaking in small groups. The module's emphasis on collaborative work has not only broadened my social adaptability but has also nurtured my confidence in expressing ideas within diverse team settings. Nevertheless, I still experience a bit of nervousness when speaking in public, and my aim is to gradually overcome these challenges.

Project Learning

Working on this project has been remarkably enriching. Collaborating with individuals from diverse educational backgrounds provided fresh perspectives and insights beyond my usual scope. The experience was eye-opening, demonstrating the depth that occurs from merging diverse persons' perspectives.

Discovering the variety in working styles was a key lesson. I've realized that everyone has their own way of working, and adapting to these differences poses a challenge. Handling diverse opinions, we sometimes spent a considerable amount of time discussing them, disrupting the project's flow. However, we often relied on the person with a strong will to move forward. After our presentation, we received feedback suggesting that some of our initial opinions were correct. Following those initial insights could have kept us on the right track. This experience has taught me the importance of recognizing the value of diverse perspectives and finding a balance between different working styles. Moving forward, I intend to apply this lesson to future projects in order to ensure a smoother collaborative process by improving my communication and persuasive skills.

As the project's secretary, my job was important to keep track of what we did. Writing down important discussions in each meeting helped us stay on course. I realized that keeping careful records helped us talk openly, see how our ideas changed, and keep the project together. This experience made me better at paying attention to details and being organized, which helped me work better in the team.

Moving forward, I see the importance of improving communication tactics and refining idea presentation for the upcoming SIT project. These lessons will bolster my ability to navigate challenges and facilitate a smoother exchange of ideas within the team, aligning with my commitment to continuous personal and professional growth. Applying the insights gained from this project, I aim to further improve collaboration dynamics, ensuring that diverse perspectives are valued and integrated seamlessly for successful project outcomes.
